Miami graffiti artist Adam Sinai is an American-Israeli multidisciplinary artist, he was born in North Miami Beach, Florida and grew up in the city of Tel Aviv, Israel. Adam is an internationally known graffiti artist, a well-established graphic designer and a motion graphics artist. He gets his unique look on things from the art world and the urban environment. The artist holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Computer Graphics degree from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art in Israel.
The artist is currently living and working in South Florida, his art is extremely versatile and unique, from graphic design projects, graffiti installations, paintings on canvas to large-scale murals, which he designs and creates for residential and commercial projects from start to finish. One of our favorite murals of Adam’s is located in The Park at Wynwood, a local spot in the Wynwood Arts District offering cocktails, food truck eats, and live music.
The artist aims to create a greater impression and appreciation for art and imagery, creating a public visual that allows viewers to experience a different perspective of their surroundings. And although he is able to produce a multitude of work, using a variety of styles and mediums, his true passion is graffiti and mural projects. We recently had the pleasure to chat with Adam about his art career and current projects:
Q – What is the best part about being an artist, how have you developed your career?
A – The best part of being an artist for me, is to be able to express my creativity and always expand my way of thinking. A career is a relative term, I think that if you create enough, you will see progress. I’ve been drawing my whole life, it’s a part of who I am.
Q – Where does your inspiration come from?
A – My inspiration comes mainly from the Pop-Art movement with a twist of the classic old school Graffiti tagging; Cartoons, Comics, Sci-Fi movies, the Urban lifestyle in general. I take these references into account but always try to break them, rebuild them, and make them my own.
Q – You have a very unique style, can you tell us more about your approach and technique?
A – Thank you, that’s a big compliment, I have developed this technique over the years, it starts with a more expressive method, with more emotion, and then I always use my fine lines and steady hand to add the finer details and give the artwork this “WOW” effect.
Q – Which artist or artists (past and/or present) do you admire most and why?
A – I admire a lot of artists and designers, it’s hard for me to name just a few, Keith Haring was a big influence growing up though. His work ethic was out of this world. He has this picture that I will never forget, you see him standing in a painted room, top to bottom, side to side black lines and shapes on white walls. Everything was covered, that’s what I always want to feel when I paint.
Q – How do you navigate the art world, are there any trends you follow?
A – Artistically, I try to be true to myself as much as possible, regarding following trends, I do love the ‘rinse finishing’ that artists give their artworks nowadays, the shine always attracts the eye and make things look fancier.
Q – Tell us more about your recent murals, we love the indoor piece you did at Richy Hair Boutique in Aventura, Florida – how long did it take you to create it?
A – Thank you! That’s a really cool piece. Usually for a commercial project I start with creating a few sketches for the client. In this case, the client asked for a long haired model, the salon specializes in hair extensions. This specific artwork stood out from the rest, it took me about 20 hours to complete because of all the thin lines in her hair. I’m happy they chose this design, the black and white colors really fit together. As for more works, last week I finished a beautiful mural in a new restaurant in Hallandale Beach named ‘Sardina’ and right now I’m working on a mural in the ‘Aroma Espresso Bar’ in South Beach.
Q – We notice repeat images and symbols in your work, what do they mean or represent to you?
A – I think these symbols are a manifestation of a feeling I have, to me they are like a reminder to why I’m doing what I’m doing. I like to add them now and then, they also look cool.
Q – Can you tell us about your design company, the work you create is so clean and contemporary, what types of projects are you developing currently?
A – Yes of course, Deluxe Graphic Studio is a design studio I founded with my wife, Yasmin Shefer. She is also a professional graphic designer and together we do all sorts of amazing projects. I think that in our designs we try to always take the more minimal and clean approach. I believe that Design, rather than Art, needs to be practical and easy on the eye.
